Maternity leave reduces the elapsed time since the award of the first PhD by 18 months for each child.

Number of days reduced for paternity leave:

Paternity Leave: official documents must be submitted to support the amount of leave actually taken for the paternity leave which occurred before or after the PhD award.

Number of days reduced for other reasons:

Long-term illness, Clinical training, National service: official documents must be submitted to support the amount of leave actually taken for each incident which occurred after the PhD award.
